Profile

The main function of the KSS Deanery is the provision of the highest quality of medical education, comprising the contracting and allocation of workplace based training opportunities, the quality management of the training provided and the assessment and support of approximately 3,000 Foundation and Specialty Training doctors.

Recruitment is managed locally, nationally and in collaboration with the London deanery across various specialties. Further, detailed guidance and information is available at www.kssdeanery.org/prospectus

The quality management of these activities is undertaken through our Specialty Schools who work with each Trust's Local Faculty Group and Local Academic Board ensuring the highest possible quality of education and training for our trainees. In addition, the Deanery supports these quality assurance and management structures through the development of the faculty of educators and careers advice services.

KSS recruitment 2012

In preparation for the 2012 recruitment rounds, KSS Deanery has worked closely with its trainees, trainers and key trust administrators to ensure that each stakeholder has the information and guidance that they need during this period. Part of these preparations include the development of an interactive, online prospectus www.kssdeanery.org/prospectus and the delivery of a number of recruitment events around the Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London over the preparatory months of October and November 2011.

KSS continues to expand the number of training programmes it manages which historically have been managed jointly with the London Deanery. The majority of KSS programmes retain access to London training places to ensure full curriculum coverage is achieved.

A full range of information about application windows, shortlisting, interview dates and preparation for each stage of the recruitment process can be found on the prospectus www.kssdeanery.org/prospectus which will be updated on a regular basis as further information is made available.
