Profile

When you choose Wales for your medical career you choose superb facilities and well organised Foundation, Speciality or GP Training. You choose a diverse country that will give you a great life style as you build your future career. Wales offers something for everyone, from cosmopolitan towns and cities to stunning coastal locations. With affordable housing and welcoming communities it is an ideal place to achieve a work-life balance. It even has its own language, although it is not necessary to learn it to pursue training, employment or to live here.
Wales is covered by a single Deanery which puts high quality training at the heart of medical careers, from the foundation doctor's first job, through to speciality training on to consultant or general practitioner; the Deanery also holds an award for being the "most family-friendly". Trainees can indicate regional preferences and are supported by speciality training schools, regional training committees and a network of well-equipped postgraduate education centres within closely-linked teaching hospitals. Higher specialist training includes access to CPD opportunities geared to develop your career and prepare you for a future consultant role.
