6 months in the first instance
Applications are invited for the above full time post to start as soon as possible for 6 months in the first instance. You will be joining the Island’s CAMHS team currently comprised of 1 other Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (Lead Clinician), 2 Psychologists, 4.5 Nurses, social worker and 2 secretaries, based in a large, attractive house in the centre of St Helier. CAMHS is part of the Mental Health Directorate. The team work closely with Paediatric, Education and Social Service departments to support children and young people up to the age of 18 in Jersey. Due to the nature of working on an island the post offers a wide variety of experience, covering the full range of Mental Health difficulties in children and young people up to the age of 18. This may include providing intensive packages of care in conjunction with staff from the team and other services. You will therefore be flexible and innovative in your practice. There is no on-call commitment. A substantive post is currently being developed. 2009 will be an exciting time for Children’s services in Jersey when they will be undergoing a period of development and investment. The Island of Jersey is 9 miles by 5 miles surrounded by beautiful beaches and enjoying a mild maritime climate. Situated 14 miles off the coast of France it is 40 minutes’ flying time from London and as a sophisticated finance centre has excellent transportation links to many major UK cities. Jersey is an interesting and unique environment to work and live in. We are not part of the NHS and have a different governmental and legislative system. For reasons of Jersey law, applicants must possess full registration with the General Medical Council. High standard single or family accommodation is provided and the travel arrangements for the appointee and partner from a UK port of entry will be arranged and paid for.
