MMC Recruitment responsibilities

The RCP National Recruitment system is recruiting for all Core Medical Training posts at CT1 level in England. There are 1111 posts available. The number of posts within each Deanery is available at www.cmtrecruitment.org.uk The appointments will be for two year programmes involving acute and specialised
medical posts in all Deaneries. The National scheme involves a web-based application form, submitted to the applicant’s top two preferenced UoAs for shortlisting and interview. The application form, shortlisting criteria and interview format will be standardised and based on Department of Health Guidance and previous practice. The web-based system will allow applicants to track the status of their application and access email contacts with regard to invitation to interview, post offers etc. Allocation to posts within each Deanery (or Unit of Application)
will be the responsibility of the Deanery. The National scheme will allow ‘cascading’ of appointable trainees from the Deanery that has assessed the applicant to a Deanery with vacancies, acceptable to the applicant.

All applicants are required to sit the same Knowledge Test that applicants to General Practice Training sit on 21st
February. The test is a mandatory part of the application process for both GP and CMT, but in the latter case the Test is a pilot. The results will not be used to rank CMT applicants, but will be used to gain further knowledge about improved assessment techniques.
