Profile

The East of England Deanery is responsible for the commissioning,
management, monitoring and quality assurance of Postgraduate
Medical Education to produce doctors who are educated, trained and
motivated to play their part in a first class modern health service. To
deliver this, the Deanery has moved to establish a local Postgraduate
Schools structure covering all aspects of medical training across all
specialties and locations in the Deanery.
There is a Head of School for each Specialty who has been jointly
appointed by the Deanery and the relevant Royal College or Faculty
and a School Board who oversee the training delivered by one or more
Training programmes within that Specialty.
There are individual Schools for Foundation Training, General Practice
and Public Health Medicine (and Dentistry), whilst the Schools of
Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and
Gynaecology, Anaesthetics, Radiology, Ophthalmology and Pathology
constitute the Directorate of Hospital Education.
