Salary - VSM/Medical Terms & Conditions

The NHS Trust Development Authority (NHS TDA) provides leadership and support tailored specifically to the needs of NHS Trusts as they aspire to become sustainable organisations providing high quality care. The NHS TDA oversees and develops all aspects of these organisations including service quality, governance and financial performance, helping them to become high quality, sustainable organisations, either becoming a Foundation Trust or an alternative solution sought.

In order to strengthen our senior clinical expertise and support to Trusts, we are recruiting four new Associate Medical Directors. Combining a national role with a regional focus, these roles provide excellent opportunities for highly skilled, and confident medical leaders to take their next career step. Above all, successful candidates will lead key initiatives and areas of work with Clinical Quality Directorate colleagues and the broader team, to oversee and support Trusts to deliver high quality care.
The overriding job purpose is to lead initiatives identified by the Executive Director, commensurate with a national sub-board appointment, to enable NHS Trusts to provide quality patient care through personal actions and professional leadership, in the shaping and development of a culture of continuous service improvement.

Associate Medical Directors will report to the Medical Director and will work closely with the Deputy Medical Director. On occasions the postholder will represent the Medical Director at external meetings, events, work streams, or committees. Postholders will provide effective, high profile and credible professional leadership across the TDA and will act as a positive ambassador for the TDA. Besides assuming responsibility for a regional patch – London, South, North or Midlands - they will also work at a national level.

The postholder will work alongside the Director of Nursing and Deputy Director of Nursing, Associate Medical and Nurse Directors and other senior staff. They will have a particularly close working relationship with the Clinical Quality Director for the assigned region including members of the relevant delivery team. He/she will also be a member of the regional senior management team working with the relevant Director of Delivery and Development.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Kathy McLean, Medical Director, 0161 625 7203.

Interviews for this post will be held in London on Tuesday, 1st and Wednesday, 2nd July. The selection process will include a presentation and interview.

Closing date: 12 June 2014.
