Director of Public Health
Free to make bold changes and transform our county’s wellbeing
Enhancing the health of thousands of people is a tall order, but at Kent County Council, we know it can happen with the right person at the helm. We’re looking for an exceptional Director of Public Health. Someone who understands the importance of enhancing physical and emotional wellbeing throughout the county. Someone who knows that shaping external factors such as education, housing, jobs and economic policies can make a huge difference to health and wellbeing. Is that person you?
This is a far-reaching role with the scope to realise both immediate and long-term change. Providing dynamic strategic leadership, you will champion partnerships with public and private sector agencies. You will enjoy a broad and challenging remit, driving strategies and policies to: reduce health inequalities; deal with infectious diseases and environmental threats; promote immunisation, and support provision for a growing number of older people and those with disabilities. From NHS commissioning to service integration, you will ensure the county’s health needs are met.
A visionary leader, you are on the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register. Committed to developing healthy lifestyles for individuals and communities, you’ll bring to the role impressive knowledge of epidemiology and a proven track record in public health. No ordinary corporate manager, you are highly adept at managing change, people, budgets and projects, and passionate about seeing world-class healthcare in Kent. Crucially, you will be comfortable dealing with the media and understand the cultures of diverse organisations that impact on the matters of public health.
This is an outstanding role for an outstanding candidate. To find out more and to apply please visit www.kent.gov.uk/directorofpublichealth or call Andrew Ireland on 01622 696083.
Closing date 18 June 2014. Assessment Centre and interviews will be held on 16 July and 21 July 2014.
