Salary in line with Consultant in Public Health Medicine level + Geographical Allowance or Public Health Consultants (medically and non medically qualified) will be eligible for NHS Agenda for Change Band 8d level + Geographical Allowance.

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is an outer London borough to the east of the city on the north bank of the River Thames and within the M25 London Orbital Motorway. The Public Health offices are located in the centre of Barking which has very good transport links, it takes 15 minutes into central London on the main over line train and the train station has 2 tube lines.

It is the inspiration behind our Health and Wellbeing Board’s vision to secure improvements in health for our residents.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a small multidisciplinary Public Health team in one of London’s growth boroughs. We are looking for an outstanding individual to fill this senior post. You will play a key role in developing services with partner agencies to improve health and reduce inequalities.

You will have a proven track record at a senior level. Underpinning this you will have a comprehensive knowledge of key public health targets within the local authority including relevant local and national policy context. Your experience and ability to demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practicalities of complex public health issues will be key to the delivery of improvements in health and wellbeing.

This is a permanent and full-time post working 37.5 hours.
