FELLOWSHIP IN ORTHOPAEDICS – Shoulder and Elbow - £30,002 to £39,693 - Fixed-term contract for 12 months
Applications are invited for the post of Shoulder and Elbow Fellow commencing August 2014 for 12 months. This post has arisen within one of the UK’s leading Orthopaedic Centres with a reputation for providing a high quality shoulder and elbow service.
This post is required to continue to support this demanding and expanding service, meeting increasing patient needs, and supporting the existing team of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
The successful applicant will gain closely supervised exposure to all aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery. A structured timetable of activities will provide exposure to the treatment of deformity, degenerative and traumatic shoulder and elbow conditions under the supervision of four Consultant Orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
The unit benefits from excellent musculoskeletal radiology services. The successful applicant will be given active support with basic science and clinical research, and will be expected to present and publish work done.
This post does not attract an NTN and does not lead to the award of CCST but is aimed at Year 5/6 Orthopaedic Specialist Registrars who want to specialise in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. FRCS (Tr. and Orth.) or equivalent is essential.
This post will have SAC approval for training (subject to personal circumstances). Salary will be on the appropriate point of the Specialist Registrar salary scale.
In accordance with Home Office regulations, applications from candidates who require a work permit to work in the UK may not be considered if there are sufficient numbers of other suitable candidates from the UK/EEA. Non-UK/EEA applicants should ensure they are aware of the recent changes to the Immigration Rules.
The successful candidate will be expected to reside within 15 miles or 30 minutes of Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, during the period of the fellowship.
