Dean/Head of the Norwich Medical School

The Norwich Medical School at UEA has an established reputation for exciting and innovative approaches to education, supported by a strong and rapidly developing research programme. As part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the School places a strong emphasis on inter-professional co-operation in teaching and research. It is building a strong reputation in Population Medicine, Health Economics, Diet and Health and BioMedicine, with laboratory work now being concentrated in the newly-built BioMedical Research Centre. UEA’s close relationships with the NHS and other partners across the Norwich Research Park, one of Western Europe’s centres of excellence in life and environmental sciences research, also offers a unique and exciting set of opportunities for the development of translational initiatives.

UEA is now seeking to appoint a new Dean/Head of the Norwich Medical School. Reporting to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, s/he will promote excellence in teaching and research, and further drive the development of partnership opportunities across UEA and with its external partners. The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership ability and a deep understanding of the key management issues to build on existing strengths, increase high-quality research and consolidate the School’s reputation as an educational innovator. S/he will have considerable academic and personal credibility in a relevant discipline, and the gravitas to act as a confident representative for the Norwich Medical School to a wide range of regional, national and international stakeholders.
