Public Health Directorate
CONSULTANT IN PUBLIC HEALTH
London Borough of Haringey
NHS Medical Consultant or NHS Agenda for Change Band 8d/9
Full time (part time and job-share will be considered)
Haringey is an exceptionally diverse and fast-changing borough; of our population of 255,000, about two-thirds are from ethnic minority backgrounds with over 100 languages spoken. As one of the most deprived boroughs in the country with stark health inequalities, Haringey offers an exciting and substantial public health challenge. The Council is committed to driving down these inequalities through its corporate plan, strong partnership working – especially with Haringey’s Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – and keen focus on the regeneration of Tottenham.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our strong, stable public health team. The main focus of this role is evidence-based healthcare commissioning, the integration of health and social care, improvement in the quality of primary care and health protection. This senior appointment will provide strategic leadership support to the Council’s Assistant Director of Commissioning and the CCG and, working with Councillors and residents, ensure the design and delivery of services that really make a difference to outcomes. You will lead on ensuring that the plans are in place to protect the health of Haringey’s population.
We are seeking appropriately qualified public health professionals with excellent problem solving, communication, political and technical skills who have the energy and drive to make a major contribution to improving health and reducing inequalities in Haringey.
For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please telephone Dr Jeanelle de Gruchy, Director of Public Health, on 0208 489 5119.
Closing date: 10 May 2014.
