The School of Medicine and Dentistry at UCLan is extending its undergraduate medical education portfolio and will be launching a new MB BS programme, along with a BSc in Medical Sciences, both planned to start in September 2014.
Applications are invited to join the School’s MB BS Senior Management Team. Based on the Preston campus and working closely with our NHS partners, East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, this is a very real opportunity for you to lead, develop and shape the School’s medical teaching provision, building on the success of our undergraduate and postgraduate dental programmes
Associate Dean – Medicine (Clinical Academic SL)
As one of two Associate Deans in the School, one of which is dedicated to medicine and one to Dentistry, you will assist the Dean in the provision of professional strategic leadership and management of the School and will carry operational responsibility for the MB BS/BSc Medical Sciences and postgraduate medical programmes. This post requires GMC registration
Head of Medical Education (locally determined contract or Clinical SL)
Although focussing initially on the MB BS programme, where you will take overall responsibility for the achievement of defined standards of medical education, aligning medical training and education with the GMC ‘Tomorrow’s Doctors’ standards, you will also have a cross-School strategic role.
Both posts require you to have substantial relevant experience; a strong record of successful academic leadership, a higher degree or Doctorate in an appropriate discipline and the ability to embrace new ways of working, within a collaborative team environment.
