This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinical researcher with an excellent track record of high quality applied Mental Health Services Research or Psychiatric Epidemiology to join one of the UK’s leading centres for research in population health sciences – the University of Bristol’s School of Social and Community Medicine.
The successful candidate will join the School’s Centre for Academic Mental Health. Researchers in the Centre include psychiatrists, health service researchers, public health physicians, statisticians, psychologists, epidemiologists and social scientists. We have a strong record of randomised controlled trials investigating interventions for common mental health conditions, conducted in collaboration with the Bristol Randomised Trials Collaboration. The Cochrane Collaboration’s Depression, Anxiety and Neurosis group (CC-DAN) is based within the Centre and the School hosts several NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research.
The appointee will demonstrate evidence of international recognition in high quality research publications and will have a proven track record of attracting external research funding. He/she will also participate in other aspects of the School’s work, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes and sharing administrative work by agreement with the Head of Section and Head of School.
The postholder can expect to be offered honorary consultant status and a licence to practice with Avon and Wiltshire Partnership NHS trust (AWP) and will undertake clinical duties in psychiatry that will be agreed following appointment. The precise title of the new Consultant will be agreed with the appointee depending on his/her academic interests.
