YOUR SUPPORT WILL TACKLE CHALLENGES.

CIVILIAN MEDICAL PRACTITIONER REVALIDATION

Clinical lead supporting the Responsible Officer (RO) appointed in Defence Medical Services (DMS) for the revalidation of civilian doctors in MOD employment Headquarters Surgeon General DMS Whittington, Lichfield

Ref: 1390810

Reporting directly to the RO and on his behalf, you will lead a small team initially to manage the revalidation of civilian doctors in MOD employment. As and when determined by statutory instrument, your responsibilities will grow to include the revalidation of other clinical specialisations. You will ensure that civilian doctors working in DMS complete their annual clinical appraisals and will prepare portfolios of evidence required by the RO to make a recommendation on revalidation to the GMC. Where there are issues concerning an individual’s performance and  fitness to practise you will lead in investigating the circumstances with professional bodies as appropriate to present your findings with recommendations to the RO.

You will also work with the Strategic Medical Policy staff in Headquarters Surgeon General to inform the development of MOD policies for the appraisal and revalidation of clinical personnel.

You will be experienced in operating at a senior level with the drive and initiative to lead and inspire others in developing and implementing new ways of working. Your flexibility will allow you to accept and adjust to different priorities and you will have the flexibility and commitment to expand the service to other clinical specialisations. In respect of appraisal and revalidation you will manage constructively DMS’s relationship with senior individuals in other departments and professional bodies including the GMC. You will keep up-to-date with best practice in appraisal and revalidation and will inform civilian doctors across DMS on new developments.

Applicants require a current GMC registration and will be included on the GP register with a valid licence to practise.
