OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PHYSICIAN

SALARY RANGE £75,249 - £84,667 PER ANNUM

With the ability to earn up to £101,451

37 HOURS PER WEEK

A challenging and exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a GMC Registered Specialist Occupational Physician in a well established and busy Occupational Health environment. The Occupational Health Unit provides a comprehensive service to the employees of Cardiff Council (CC) and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS).

This is a joint appointment where the duties will be split 50/50 between both organisations.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Occupational Health Team. The purpose of the physician role is to:

  • Enhance and maintain the health of people at work, ensuring they operate safely
  • Improve organisational effectiveness by providing expert medical advice to senior management, in line with organisational objectives
  • To liaise, as necessary, with relevant public sector bodies and local authorities to enhance collaborative working arrangements in line with Welsh Government guidance

Duties will involve working at strategic level with the relevant Heads of Department within CC and SWFRS to provide a cost effective service to both organisations. The post will also involve supporting the management of sickness absence across both organisations.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, be client focused and an effective team player. Excellent communication and relationship/networking skills will be key to working with partner organisations on collaborative undertakings and for advising Authority Members at a strategic level.

Progress through the salary range should normally take no more than 5 years depending on experience, qualifications and responsibilities.

A consultant within this band who demonstrates a significant contribution to the development of Occupational Health Services for both CC and SWFRS can earn up to £101,451.
