Gibraltar is a British dependency at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, easily reached in just over 2 hours (flying time) from Luton, Gatwick or Manchester airport. The post is based at the state of the art St Bernard’s Hospital* built 9 years ago, located by the waterfront, overlooking the straits of Gibraltar and Northern Africa. The area is perfect for those wishing to explore Southern Spain, Portugal and North Africa.

The Gibraltar Health Service is organised and modelled on UK NHS and follows traditions of British medical practice. Applicants should be registered or eligible for registration with the UK General Medical Council.

Applications are invited for the below post, commencing on 1st June 2014, for a period of 11 months.  

The Orthopaedic NCHD will work closely with the Orthopaedic Consultants and their team of NCHDs. This will provide exposure to a wide variety of Orthopaedic and Trauma conditions and their treatment, allowing active participation in the operating theatre and clinics. The post would be of particular interest to those who have completed FY II and are seeking clinical experience prior to their commencing their specialist training. NCHDs form part of a 1 in 5 resident on call rota, in cross cover with General Surgery and supported by Consultants. Total value of salary package is up to £90,000. This is dependent on years of reckonable service as a Senior House Officer or equivalent and inclusive of an out of hours supplement.  Economy Class air-fares are payable in full and rent free accommodation is provided.

Non-EU nationals should note that a Schengen Visa is required in order to be able to transit through Europe. This is obtained from the applicant’s place of residence. Please note that Schengen Visas cannot be obtained through Gibraltar.
