Applications are invited for a Specialty Registrar in Accident and Emergency Medicine at the Accident and Emergency Department of CHUV, the University Hospital of the Canton of Vaud, Lausanne, Switzerland, commencing 1st May 2014, for one year in the first instance, renewable.

The successful candidate will join a team of 15 other Registrars in a modern, superbly equipped unit receiving circa. 60,000 patients per annum, from the region adjacent and the whole canton. The University Hospital is the centre for Cardiac Emergencies, Stroke, Trauma, Burns, Neurosurgery and Transplantation, inter alia.

The successful candidate will support the clinical and professional development of Junior Interns as well as Fellow Registrars, attached to the Department, under the supervision of Consultants, present 24/7. Possibilities exist for part-time activity, of 50-80%, as well as full-time.

The CHUV is one of two University Medical Centres in the  French-speaking part of Switzerland, in the centre of Europe. Lausanne occupies a site of unparallelled scenery on the northern shores of the Lake of Geneva, within easy reach of adjacent France. Opportunities for skiing and outdoor activities abound.

Requirements for this post include: a Medical Diploma recognised in Switzerland, specialty registration recognised in the pursuance of specialty registration in Emergency Medicine or possession of the latter, or acceptable recognised completed training and a good appreciation and knowledge of spoken and written French.
