Chair/Reader/Senior Lecturer in Clinical Oncology (Honorary Consultant)

Clinical Consultant Salary Scale

At Leicester our future is bright. Ranked in the top 15 universities in Britain, our aim is to climb further. A commitment to high quality combined with an inclusive academic culture is our hallmark; we are “elite without being elitist”.

About the role

As part of an ongoing investment in cancer research, the University seeks to appoint a Clinical Oncologist with a well-established national/international reputation in research with special emphasis on the management of lung cancer and a proven ability to secure external funding. This post provides an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians who have been brought together to develop a programme of high quality research directed at improving aspects of the basic biology of lung cancer and developing new approaches to therapy. The group has a national and international reputation in translational research and combines clinicians from the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust together with scientists in the University of Leicester and MRC Toxicology Unit.

About you
You will be a registered medical practitioner with a licence to practice and be, or be eligible to be, on the GMC Specialist Register for Clinical Oncology within 6 months of the interview date.
An honorary consultant contract will be awarded by the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The clinical duties will be agreed with the Trust but a focus on the management of lung cancer is expected and additional interest in upper GI as a site would be encouraged. Ideally the appointee would also provide specialist care of patients with upper GI malignancy.

The level of University appointment will depend on the experience of the applicants.
