We have a vacancy for a rural hospital and health centre in the South Island of New Zealand that offers a wide range of services including: Medical and Assessment Treatment and Rehabilitation inpatient services, 24hr Emergency Department, Birthing and postnatal services, Specialist Outpatient Clinics, GP Practice, Allied and Community Health services including, Laboratory Diagnostic testing, Radiology Services, Mobile Surgery and a Dental Practice.

Individual and families will enjoy this location. The Practice is based in a friendly rural town with a population of 13,000 people. This location is the gateway to numerous "destinations" where anybody who enjoys skiing, surfing, hunting, hiking, fishing, beaches, camping, wineries will feel spoilt for choice.

We’re looking for a General Practitioner to join and complement their existing team. You will deliver comprehensive primary care that is patients centred, holistic and culturally appropriate to a patient list of 4,000.

GPs work between the hours of 0830 to 1700 Monday to Friday. After hours work is usually limited to ED/Hospital duties until 2100 1-2 evenings per fortnight and participation in a 1:9 weekend roster, therefore ED experience is also desirable.

Ideal applicants will be experienced Mid - Senior level General Practitioners with an interest in rural practice. Applications are also invited from more junior doctors who are looking for a career move and are willing to make a longer term commitment in return for support and supervision.

All applicants must hold or be eligible to hold registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Remuneration includes a generous base salary, use of a vehicle, initial accommodation (up to 3 months), and reimbursement of Annual Practising Certificate fees.
