Public Health Staffordshire (PHS) has smoothly transited and embedded into Staffordshire County Council. The PHS team has embraced the transformation programme of the Council and is well positioned for the future improvement of health and wellbeing of Staffordshire residents; with strong corporate and political support we have developed a culture of positive partnership working across the county to improve outcomes. Whilst great progress has been made, we have also recognised that there are opportunities for further and better improvement. The successful Consultant in Public Health will be crucial to this journey.

As a Consultant in Public Health (Commissioner for Public Health), you will provide strategic leadership for the commissioning of public health outcomes. You will work across the organisation and with partners to deliver better outcomes for the people of Staffordshire, and also help to further integrate public health principles and values into the organisational ethos and businesses. You will be expected to lead and work innovatively, to focus on securing outcomes that matter to our residents, and promote active community participation and engagement of our communities in addressing our collective challenges.

In addition to having relevant experiences in public health including senior management level exposures, experience in healthcare/clinical settings as well as working with elected members is desirable.
