Clinical Research Associate/Senior Clinical Research Associate in Neurology
Applications are invited for a suitably qualified clinician to work on physiological mechanisms of neural reorganisation and movement in healthy individuals and longitudinally during recovery after stroke and head injury, using behavioural and transcranial magnetic stimulation techniques. The work will aim to define factors which might facilitate or inhibit neural plasticity in these circumstances. Together with other Associates already in post, the appointee will participate in a 1-in-5 week-day rota at the Wellington Hospital, and spend the rest of their time in the Sobell Department at the Institute of Neurology.
Applicants must be Registered Medical Practitioners with experience in Clinical Neurology, Stroke Medicine or Neurological Rehabilitation at SHO and/or SpR level, and hold MRCP or equivalent. Research undertaken will qualify towards SpR training and accreditation, and the appointee will be expected to apply for a higher degree. The post is available immediately and is funded for 3 years or the period to December 2016, whichever is the shorter, in the first instance.
Starting salary will be on either the CL7 (Clinical Research Associate) pay scale or CL8 (Senior Clinical Research Associate) pay scale, depending on skills and experience, and will be in the range £31,301 pa - £39,693 pa plus £2,834 pa London Allowance (CL7), or £39,693 pa - £45,304 pa plus £2,834 pa London Allowance (CL8), superannuable, plus a clinical supplement of £400 per month for participating in the rota.
