North Western Deanery

NIHR ACADEMIC CLINICAL FELLOWSHIP (ACF)

IN CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY & THERAPEUTICS
WITH CLINICAL TRAINING IN AN
APPROPRIATE SPECIALTY
PROGRAMME VACANCIES 2013
ACF SPECIALTY TRAINING

Applications are invited for Academic Clinical Fellowship specialty training programme vacancies at the North Western Deanery starting August 2013. The successful candidates will also have the opportunity to undertake an accredited Masters Degree in Research with the University of Manchester.

The Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (CPT) programme is based on successful collaborations between the Universities of Manchester and Liverpool: MRC Centre for Drug Safety Science and MRC North West England Clinical Research Training Fellowship Programme in CPT. The latter is the model for our CPT Programme in that ACFs will train in organ-based or other specialties (examples from the PhD programme include Dermatology, Rheumatology, Nephrology and Paediatrics) but will attend extant modular teaching sessions in CPT based on the approved training curriculum.

The clinical component of the programme for the ACF will be in the relevant “ologist” discipline and the ACF will enter the scheme at ST1-3 (or ST4 if applying for Paediatrics or Psychiatry). Their clinical training will be disciplinespecific with support from the relevant Training Programme Director.

Applications are welcomed from those who already hold a training post in the North Western Deanery. Other applicants are welcome to apply subject to clinical capacity in their desired specialty.
