Keele University, in partnership with the University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust, has been successful in gaining NIHR funding for an academic programme in rheumatology, and is now able to advertise a prestigious NIHR Clinical Lectureship.

This post is designed to provide postdoctoral support for SpRs who are completing a PhD and hold a National Training Number (NTN). The Lectureship provides 50% salary support to allow the clinician protected time to develop academic skills and project proposals for submission for an externally funded postdoctoral training fellowship. The remaining 50% funding is provided via clinical training. The Lectureship is available for a maximum of three years, to enable completion of clinical training and attainment of further support for research/educational work (e.g. personal fellowship or grants).

The clinical base will be the Haywood Rheumatology Centre, Haywood Hospital, which provides an excellent setting for clinical training within a large consultant team of rheumatologists, established academic partnerships with Keele and a nationally recognised infrastructure for research.
