Applications are invited for the above post to start as soon as possible, initially for a period of one year, and extendable further.
 This is a whole time post designed to provide further training in Cardiac Imaging (Advanced Echocardiography, Echocardiography in Congenital Heart Disease, Cross-Sectional Cardiac Imaging and Nuclear Cardiology) to Specialty Registrar (StR) Level applicants. This post will be particularly suitable to those with prior experience in Cardiac Imaging and who wish to gain further Advanced Imaging experience in a University Teaching Hospital with four Cardiac Imaging Consultants (one due to start early 2013).
 Exceptional candidates on a Non-registrar Career Pathway will also be considered. The successful candidate will join the Cardiac Imaging team, help run the outpatient service including specialist imaging clinics and receive training in Cardiac Imaging. There will be plenty of scope for research in Cardiac Imaging utilising novel Echocardiogarphic, Cross-sectional and (optional) Nuclear Imaging techniques. Previous experience of Echocardiography is highly desirable, though not essential. The appointee will participate in general Cardiology duties including on-call.
 The Department of Cardiology is a busy Unit providing a district, Regional, and Supraregional Cardiology Service. It also provides the Academic Cardiology Lead (Professors L Neyses, C J Garratt, Bernard Clarke) for the University of Manchester.
 There is a nine-bedded Coronary Care Unit, a ten bedded dedicated day-case unit, two inpatient wards and the full range of non-invasive and Invasive Cardiac Investigation including Electrocardiography, Trans-Thoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiography (2D, 3D and 4D Echocardiography including TOE), advanced Right Ventricle Imaging Systems, Cardiac Catheterisation, Coronary Angiography, Coronary Angioplasty and both Magnetic Resonance and Cardiac Nuclear techniques. The Imaging Department has most of the latest Echocardiography Systems. There are full facilities for permanent Cardiac Pacing, Cardiac Electrophysiology and Ablation, together with an active Implantable Defibrillator Programme. There is an extensive Postgraduate Training Programme in place.
 Salary will be on the StR pay scale which currently ranges from £29,705 to £46,708 per annum.
