Professor/Reader/Senior Lecturer in Clinical Neurosciences & Honorary Consultant Neurologist
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences (DCN) wishes to appoint an individual at Professor/Reader/Senior Lecturer level with experience and track record in an area of neurological disease research.
The appointee will join a large group of academic clinical neuroscientists based at the Hampstead campus of the Medical School and the Institute of Neurology at Queen Square, and will be expected to develop a cross-departmental research programme in conjunction with one of the other departments at IoN. The post will involve a clinical commitment in neurology at the Royal Free London Foundation Trust and UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which Honorary Consultant contracts will be awarded. The post holder will also contribute to the DCN undergraduate teaching programme.
Applicants must hold a medical qualification fully registrable in the UK, a higher academic degree, MRCP or equivalent, and be entered on, or be eligible for entry into, the appropriate GMC Specialist Register. S/he must have wide experience in Neurology, experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and a proven ability to carry out high-quality original research leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals. For an appointment at Professorial level, applicants must be able to demonstrate significant achievements in original research, a capacity for academic leadership, and an international reputation in the field of neurological disease research.
The appointment is available immediately. Salary in accordance with the Clinical Academic Consultant contract and associated payscale (currently £74,504 - £100,446 pa), plus London Weighting of £2,162 pa, superannuable. Calculation of basic salary and pay thresholds will be based on seniority as indicated in applications.
