ASHFORD AND ST PETER’S HOSPITAL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
CONSULTANT INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGY
Permanent, ten Programmed Activities (PAs)
Reference: 323-WD77
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest Acute Trusts in the South East, with a well established Cardiology Department. The Trust provides all General Cardiology Services, including subspecialty interests in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), Pacing, CRT and ICD Implantation, Transthoracic, Transoesophageal and Stress Echocardiography, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac MRI, Electrophysiology and Ablations. Other interests, beyond PCI, would therefore be welcomed in an applicant.
This post offers the successful applicant the chance to work in a high-achieving, forward-looking Trust committed to maintaining local provision of high quality services while living in an attractive environment with a high quality of family and personal life.
This is a permanent Consultant post in Interventional and General Cardiology to join a strong team of five full time and three visiting Cardiologists. The post has arisen due to the retirement of one of our General Cardiologists but due to the increase in interventional work, the post now requires someone with general and interventional skills. The team will consist of four Interventionalists, one General Cardiologist with an interest in Imaging and Heart Failure, and one Electrophysiologist.
The applicant will need the skills to cover Inpatient Care in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and the Cardiology Ward and Outpatients’ Clinics. It would be expected that you will be able to perform Diagnostic Angiography and PCI. Experience in simple Pacemaker Implantation would be desirable.
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the largest provider of Cardiac Services to the Surrey population. The Trust now also performs Emergency and Elective Angiography, Intervention and Pacing for Epsom Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to support the General Cardiology rota on a 1:4 basis and be on-call for Coronary Intervention.
Candidates must be listed on the General Medical Counci’s (GMC) Specialist Register and hold a Certificate of Completion of Training/Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT/CCST) in Cardiology and ideally General Internal Medicine or be within six months of CCT/CCST at the date of interview.
