Medical Members of the Social Entitlement Chamber
Doctors are needed to sit on tribunals hearing appeals about disability related benefits such as Employment and Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance. The work is fascinating for those who enjoy the interface between medicine and law. It involves working as a team and considering the impact of disability.
One of the great attractions is the flexibility on offer of sitting days based on your availability. Doctors have judicial immunity when sitting as members of the tribunal. The role is particularly suitable for doctors at all stages of their professional careers, whether on a career break, fitting in with caring responsibilities, as part of a portfolio career or looking towards retirement.
Full training will be given to the successful candidates.
If you are interested and would like to go and observe a tribunal, please contact Lucy Slevin on 0115 934 2840.
Applications are welcomed from 7th January 2013.
