Developmental Paediatrician
Lower Hutt, New Zealand
Permanent/part time 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week)
We are looking for a Developmental Paediatrician to join our Child Development Service.
You must be:
Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
Applicants must be registered in New Zealand or hold qualifications entitling them to registration in New Zealand and hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics) or an equivalent Postgraduate qualification allowing registration as a Specialist Paediatrician with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Willing to take a lead in quality development and teaching.
The successful applicant would be working within a multi-disciplinary team of allied health professionals, the Developmental Paediatrician provides assessment and the subsequent formulation of a treatment plan for children with multiple and complex developmental needs. Pivotal to this role is participation in the on-going evolvement of the Child Development Team, as is the development of future inter-sectoral approach to the assessment and treatment of children with multiple and complex developmental needs. The position includes the provision of consultancy and advice to other Practitioners both within Hutt Valley District Health Board and in the broader community.
Hutt Hospital is located in Lower Hutt City, 20 minutes by road from Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. There is opportunity for most recreational pursuits, sporting and cultural activities.
Hutt Hospital is a busy 260 bed facility providing secondary services for Lower and Upper Hutt cities. It provides regional Plastics, Oral Maxillofacial and Rheumatology services. There are 8,000+ operative procedures per year in General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gynaecology, Dental, Plastics, Reconstruction and OMF. There are 2,200 deliveries annually in the Obstetric Unit. There are 600 admissions to the ICU each year.
