DIABETES AND ACUTE INTERNAL MEDICINE

This new and exciting post represents the next phase in providing Acute Care for Emergency Admissions. The post is based in Wishaw General Hospital, and forms part of NHS Lanarkshire’s Emergency Care Redesign Strategy. In addition to Acute Medical Care, the post involves Diabetes Outpatient Service provision (two Programmed Activities (PAs)) per week.
You will join an established group of Physicians, including a growing team of five Acute Physicians and two and a half Diabetes Consultants, in providing high quality Clinical Care for Emergency Medical Admissions. You will play a lead role in the operational and strategic development of Acute Medical Assessment including the establishment of Ambulatory Care.
You will be expected to provide a robust interface with Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, including the development of Medical High Dependency. The postholder will also be responsible for raising the profile of Acute Medicine within NHS Lanarkshire and the West of Scotland.
