REGISTRAR (FELLOW IN CATARACT AND REFRACTIVE SURGERY) – OPHTHALMOLOGY

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, South Australia

The remunerated half of this post based on an Indicative Total Remuneration: $73,898 - $121,100 for a Temporary full time (12 months) – MDP2G

You will be responsible for managing the care of all patients allocated to the Ophthalmology Department, in consultation with the responsible Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. Providing supervision to medical students, interns and Junior Medical Officers in consultation with the Consultants, you will implement administrative procedures consistent with the duties of a Unit Registrar, including supervision of admission and discharge planning.

The Fellow can expect training in pre-operative assessment, pre- and post-operative care in refractive surgery, refractive surgery techniques associated with clear lens and cataract surgery, ultra-small incision cataract surgery and premium intra-ocular lens techniques. Because of the private practice setting of excimer laser surgery in Australia, the fellow does not carry out excimer laser procedures, but assists and observes. A research output will be required.

The research and refractive surgery components of this post are unfunded.

You must be registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Applications are to be submitted by 11th January 2013, via: www.health.sa.gov.au/careers
