Here, you’ll have a breadth of caseload that would deter some who are secure in their comfort zone, but for you it’s what medicine is all about: stimulating, challenging and rewarding.
Southland Hospital is one of New Zealand’s most modern, having been rebuilt in 2004. A secondary level facility, but you’ll find first class facilities such as an in-house Radiological Service with all modalities, extensive diagnostic facilities and excellent links to our closest Tertiary Centre in Dunedin. You’ll have first rate peer support and a breadth of caseload you’ll find stimulating. Our team of six Physicians truly do deal with it all – sharing equally in an Acute roster, providing both Inpatient and Outpatient Services and, of course, pursuing their specialty interest. You’ll be well supported by Registrars and House Officers.
Invercargill? It’s in the south of New Zealand’s South Island, surrounded by national parks. It’s a friendly city and the pace of life and lack of big city pressures reflect its size. We’ve an abundance of amenities, educational (primary through tertiary) facilities, arts scene and cultural life. We have space and fresh air to share, and a sense of community many lament having lost. Up the road we’ve Queenstown and Central Otago – summer and winter playgrounds whatever your passion.
You’ll need to have completed your specialist training and be eligible for registration in NZ and ideally have an interest in developing teaching opportunities, something our links to the University of Otago and Dunedin School of Medicine encourage.
