NHS MILTON KEYNES AND NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

CONSULTANT IN PUBLIC HEALTH/CONSULTANT IN PUBLIC HEALTH MEDICINE

NHS Milton Keynes & Northamptonshire

Consultant Salary Scale/AfC Band 8d/9

Full time (Consideration will be given to applicants for a job-share or part time appointment.)

Do you want to work in Milton Keynes as part of our multi-disciplinary public health directorate? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a replacement Public Health Consultant to join our Public Health Department on a full time, permanent basis working within the Milton Keynes Public Health Team (now located in the Local Authority offices in Central Milton Keynes). Our overall aim is to secure a real improvement in the health of local people.

With the NHS Reforms fully underway and particularly the transition of Public Health responsibilities to Local Authorities, there is a need for strong Public Health leadership to ensure continuity of functions as well as the management of change.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who enjoys complex working with partners across organisational boundaries to improve health. The post holder will have the skills to enable them to provide the necessary professional and specialist input through and beyond this transition phase, in anticipation of the incorporation of the Public Health function into Milton Keynes Council from 2013.

Due to the current context of transition the post holder’s specific role and work plan will be determined on commencement, according to individual’s interests and the needs of the organisation’s work. This will be within the three domains of Public Health: Public Health Improvement; Health Protection and Disease Prevention; Population Health. The Consultant will have an important role working closely with the Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group supporting two programme boards as part of the mandatory offer.

We welcome an informal discussion. Please contact either Sue Frossell, Interim Deputy Director of Public Health or the current postholder Dr Marianne Vinson, Consultant in Public Health Medicine on (01908) 254222 or 254241or by email: Sue.Frossell@miltonkeynes.nhs.uk or Marianne.Vinson@miltonkeynes.nhs.uk
