Joint Fellowship in Diabetes

The Novo Nordisk UK Research Foundation and the Medical Research Council are seeking applications for a jointly funded clinical research training fellowship in diabetes. The fellowship provides up to three years’ support for clinically qualifi ed, active professionals to undertake specialised or further research training in the bio-medical sciences within the UK. This award is specifi cally aimed at diabetes clinical research. The scheme is designed to accommodate the dual clinical-research training career path by allowing fellows to spend up to 20 per cent of their time on NHS sessions. Fellows are required to register for a research degree, normally a PhD, based on research undertaken during the fellowship.

Any jointly funded fellowships will be offered under standard MRC terms and conditions and at the same funding level as any other MRC clinical research training fellowship. Successful applicants will be expected to report progress to the Novo Nordisk UK Research Foundation on an annual basis and to present their work each year at the Fellows’ meeting. The Novo Nordisk UK Research Foundation was established in 1996 as a charity to support researchers in the fi eld of diabetes. The Foundation is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities and has partnership status with the NIHR.
