NHS Consultant Salary: £74,504 to £100,446 per annum pro rata

Agenda for Change, Band 8d: £65,270-£80,810 per annum pro rata

Full time 10 PAs/37.5 hours

North Yorkshire has a proud history of improving the health and wellbeing of the local community. This is as a result of the partnership between North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) and North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust (NYYPCT), a partnership now seeking to jointly appoint two Public Health Consultants who, pending legislation, will transfer from NYYPCT to NYCC in April 2013.

We are looking for forward-thinking Public Health Consultants with drive and strong leadership skills to help both shape our new local Public Health System and inform decisions which will impact on the health and wellbeing of the population of North Yorkshire.

You will have experience of working with a wide range of partners and organisations, including Local Authorities, voluntary sector organisations and NHS Clinicians on health improvement and reduction of inequalities.

They will each carry different areas of responsibility:

Post 1)

Public Health Consultant responsible for establishing the local Public Healthcare Advice Service for clinical commissioning groups and managing Public Health intelligence and information function.

Post 2)

Public Health Consultant responsible for Public Health Commissioning, Strategy and Partnerships in the area of adults and older people working closely with the Health and Adult Services Directorate. This post will also be responsible for the management of the Drug and Alcohol Action Team.

Public Health Specialist Registrar and Specialist Trainee applicants who are not yet on the GMC’s Specialist Register/GDC’s Specialist List in Dental Public Health/UKVR must provide verifiable, signed documentary evidence of being within six months of gaining entry at the date of interview.
