We are offering a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic and motivated to lead a developing service in the role of Joint Director of Public Health for Redbridge and Waltham Forest, right in the heart of East London.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Public Health professional who will provide leadership and advice to specialist commissioners, working closely with key stakeholders in relation to needs assessments, service plans and quality audits. You will also carry out the vital task of prioritising services with clinicians using your excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

Our two boroughs are committed to realising the great benefits that cross-border working can produce and to enable this we need a visionary and motivational leader with proven accomplishments in improving the health of communities. You will also have exceptional people management skills to assist you in developing the Public Health service in their leadership role across partner organisations and the wider workforce.

The position of Joint Director of Public Health is a full time post with lead responsibility for the functions that are transferring into local authorities and for the core offer to the local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). You will provide strategic leadership, clear evidence-based advice and develop interventions that will make a significant impact on health inequalities in Redbridge and Waltham Forest. This is a real opportunity to showcase your leadership skills and innovative thinking. You will have confidence, excellent networking and negotiation skills, and have the vision to help shape the new local public health system in two diverse London boroughs.

Between us our two boroughs have a population of over 500,000 people who will benefit from your skills and commitment. We are boroughs of contrast and diversity in both our physical characteristics and social demographics. The enclosed pack will give you a clearer idea of the challenges and rewards that await you!

Due to the current NHS reforms, the successful appointee will initially be appointed to NHS Waltham Forest but will transfer to the London Borough of Waltham Forest in April 2013.
