Monitor
Ambitious for patients
The new Health and Social Care Act 2012 has made changes to the way health care is regulated in order to strengthen the way patients’ interests are promoted and protected. Monitor will become the sector regulator for health care, which means that we will regulate providers of NHS funded services in England. To do this, we will license providers of NHS-funded services in England, regulate prices, enable integrated care, prevent anti-competitive behaviour and ensure service continuity in the event of provider failure.
