The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Waikato Hospital is seeking applicants for this new position, based at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand.
The position is largely in Population Child Health, with the remainder involving Developmental/Behavioural Paediatrics, and will involve working across all strands of the Health, Education and Welfare sectors.
Working with a Project Manager you will be required to provide strong local and regional leadership in Community Paediatrics, as well as meeting Government Child and Youth Health targets. You will undertake appropriate Population Child and Youth Needs Assessments, identifying key issues, and working with a broad range of consumer and provider organisations to implement and evaluate solutions to the identified problems.
Applicants will hold the FRACP in Community Child Health or equivalent, most likely dual trained in General Paediatrics, and be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Additionally a solid track record in programme development, implementation and evaluation is desirable, coupled with a good understanding of the New Zealand Health System.
There is a Clinical School of Medicine of the University of Auckland attached to the Campus, with 5th and 6th Year Medical Students rotating through the Child Health services, the Department has a superior rate of passes in the FRACP Part 1 examinations.
