UK Border Agency

Public Appointment of Doctors to the Independent Advisory Panel on Non-Compliance Management

The UK Border Agency is working with the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) to produce a bespoke training package for use by detainee custody officers who escort individuals being removed from the UK.

The main purpose of the Panel is to provide independent advice to the UK Border Agency, on the quality and safety of the new training package, and in particular on the proposed use of force techniques, to ensure we use the safest and most appropriate methods for returning individuals to their country of origin.

We are looking to appoint at least two doctors to form part of the wider panel membership. It is expected that panel members will attend up to one meeting per week, but not every member will be expected to attend every meeting. There will be a need to travel to view the techniques, but most panel meetings are expected to take place by means of teleconferencing.

The aim is for successful candidates to be appointed from January 2013. The appointment will be for a maximum of 12 months.

Remuneration is £200 per day or locum costs if appropriate, plus necessary expenses paid at standard Home Office rates.

If you would like further information please apply to: IAPNCM@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk for an information pack and application form quoting reference HOIAPNCM.

Closing date: Saturday, 24th November 2012.

The Home Office will not discriminate on grounds of age, disability, gender, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, those with caring responsibilities, part time workers or any other factor irrelevant to a person’s work.
