THE PENNINE ACUTE HOSPITALS NHS TRUST
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated
Clinicians to join us
SPECIALTY DOCTORS
ANAESTHESIA
Reference: 352-SPECDOC-ANAES-M9
Applications are invited for Specialty Doctors to join the friendly, well organised Anaesthesia Departments: one post at Fairfield General (FGH) and three posts at Royal Oldham (ROH) Hospital within Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The posts are a minimum of 12 Programmed Activities, dependent on the site.
The Trust provides services for 850,000 people living across Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, North Manchester and parts of East Lancashire.
It is one of the largest District General Hospitals in the country and provides Tertiary Levels of Care for Vascular Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Cancer Surgery, and supports the Obstetric Service in 10,000 deliveries per year. The Anaesthetic Directorate has always had an excellent reputation for training and teaching, and is proud to have examiners for FRCA and EDIC; the Royal Oldham site also hosts EDIC examinations.
Successful candidates will be working alongside Anaesthetic trainees in the region and contribute to the on-call rotas along with the routine daytime lists. In addition to the specialties mentioned above, there will be ample opportunities to learn regional techniques and gain expertise in Obstetric Analgesia. A new Paediatric and Maternity Unit is open at NMGH, and another is under construction at ROH, due to open in December 2012.
The SAS Grades will also be expected to cover on-call duties for the Intensive Care Units and will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in the delivery of care for critically ill patients. This is a good opportunity for candidates working towards their final Fellowship as intense training and VIVA practice is provided by the Consultant Team. Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, at least three years’ in Anaesthetic training posts in the UK, and hold the Basic Level Training Certificate (BLTC) or equivalent.
