With Sub Specialty Expertise In Cardiac Imaging

Applications are invited for a Consultant post in imaging and general cardiology at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. You will join a team of four Consultants based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe (MCHFT) and fourteen Consultants at the University Hospitals of North Staffordshire (UHNS).

This post is a new post with clinical sessions at both Leighton Hospital (MCHFT) and the University Hospital of North Staffordshire (UHNS) where you will contribute to the general cardiology and imaging services. This is a 10 PA post with 6 PAs committed to Leighton and 4 PAs committed to UHNS. There is no on-call commitment with this post.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute, maternity and child health services to the boroughs of Crewe and Nantwich, Vale Royal, and the western parts of Congleton. These services are provided at Leighton Hospital in Crewe and the Victoria Infirmary in Northwich. You will join a highly committed team of four existing general cardiologists and contribute to the provision of a high-quality, secondary care cardiology service for the population of mid Cheshire and the development of a dobutamine stress echo (DSE) service. There is a highly developed infrastructure of support for non-invasive Cardiology at the MCHFT including cardiac MR and CT coronary angiography. The cardiology service at Mid Cheshire Foundation NHS Trust is evolving and expanding. MCHFT is an associate teaching hospital.

The University Hospital of North Staffordshire provides tertiary cardiology and cardiac surgery services for over 3 million people across Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire and South Cheshire, as well secondary care cardiology for the local population. The service has recently undergone substantial expansion and you will join a strong team of fourteen existing consultant cardiologists. There is a broad range of subspecialty interests including imaging, heart failure, and electrophysiology as well as intervention for coronary, valvular and other structural heart diseases. The cardiothoracic unit moved to a new purpose built hospital site in 2012. The unit has a successful program of interventional research and is active in national and international educational events. There are established and comprehensive echocardiography, cardiac MR and nuclear cardiology services at UHNS. This new post is principally to support and develop the cardiac CT service to complete the cardiac imaging facilities.

Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including a Licence to Practise, and be on the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training.

The post is offered on a full time, part time or job share basis, the job plan being intended for a full time appointment with an opportunity to modify this if the post is offered on any other basis.
