A medically qualifi ed person (preferably with MRCP and some previous neurological experience) is required to undertake research which will involve the prospective identifi cation of CJD, including variant CJD cases, to obtain detailed clinical and epidemiological information to assess the notifi cation of cases and, where appropriate, visit referred cases and conduct neurological examinations. A clean driving licence is essential, as is a willingness to travel (occasionally at short notice), throughout the UK.
There will be opportunities to gain particular experience in other areas relevant to the National Training Programme in clinical neurology plus experience in computer skills, presentation skills and the preparation of publications.
This is a 6-month, fi xed-term appointment in the fi rst instance, although this may be extended. Placement on salary scale depending on qualifi cations and experience.
