Clinical Commissioning Board Members

(Secondary Care Doctors) required in South East London

We have exciting opportunities for Secondary Care Doctors to play an important part in shaping and developing the emerging Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) across South East London.


To be suitable for the role of Secondary Care Doctor member, applicants must:

  • be a Consultant – either currently employed, or in employment at some time in the period of 10 years ending with the date of the individual‘s appointment to the governing body
  • have a high level of understanding of how Care is delivered in a Secondary Care setting
  • have previous experience of working in a collective decision-making group, such as a board or committee, or high-level awareness of board-level working

Applicants must not however be an employee or member (including shareholder) of, or a Partner in, a provider of Primary Medical Services, or a provider with whom the CCG has made commissioning arrangements.


The remuneration for the Clinical Member posts will be set by the individual CCG, but will be commensurate with the experience and  seniority of the applicant, and in line with the guidelines for Non-executives of NHS bodies.

Role one: involves working across Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark CCGs and will require a time commitment of up to 7.5 days per month, including some evening engagements.


Role two: involves working with Bexley CCG and will require a time commitment of up to 2.5 days per month, including some evening engagements.


Role three: involves working with Bromley CCG and will require a time commitment of up to 2.5 days per month, including some evening engagements.


Role four: involves working with Greenwich CCG and will require a time commitment of up to 2.5 days per month, including some evening engagements.
