OUTSTANDING CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE SINGAPORE NATIONAL EYE CENTRE
The Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) is the designated centre in the public healthcare sector in Singapore to spearhead and coordinate the provision of specialised ophthalmological services, with emphasis on quality education and research. The Centre manages an annual workload of 275,000 outpatient visits, and 28,000 major eye surgeries and laser procedures annually. It has a staff strength of 560, comprising 85 full-time medical staff and a full complement of allied health, nursing and administrative staff.
There are 10 established subspecialties: Cataract, General Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cornea and External Eye Disease, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Ocular Inflammation and Immunology, Oculoplastic/Aesthetic Eyeplastic, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Refractive Surgery and Vitreo-Retina.
In addition, the development of the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) within the SNEC facility has provided strategic synergies in the pursuit of cutting-edge translational research in cornea, glaucoma, vitreo-retina and other areas which have attracted major programme funding. SERI clinician scientists and researchers have opportunities for conjoint academic appointments with the National University of Singapore.

Apart from clinical responsibilities, you will be expected to play an active role in subspecialty development, undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and research.
Depending on years of experience and track record, candidates may be considered for appointment as:
Applicants for the above positions must have basic medical qualification and higher qualification(s) in ophthalmology (i.e. FRCOphth or its equivalent) as well as specialist training that are recognised by the Specialists Accreditation Board, Singapore. Successful candidates must have experience in all aspects of Clinical Ophthalmology and in one of the relevant subspecialties. Strong teaching and/or research abilities with a track record of publications preferred.
* For Registrar positions, applicants must have recognised basic medical qualification and higher qualification(s) in ophthalmology (i.e. MRCOphth or its equivalent).
