Join our International Board of BMJ Fellows

The BMJ is one of the world’s leading medical journals. Our mission is to lead the debate on health, and to engage, inform and stimulate doctors, researchers and other health professionals in ways that will improve outcomes for patients.

We are seeking to supplement our editorial advisory board with an international board of BMJ Fellows, who will fly the flag for the BMJ and contribute ideas, content, and peer review.

BMJ Fellows will represent the BMJ within their institution, specialty, and peer group, raising the profile of the journal and encouraging submission of high impact research and review articles that answer important clinical or policy questions.

As a BMJ Fellow, you will liaise with the BMJ Editorial team, providing intelligence on forthcoming research, academic meetings, and other activities of interest to the BMJ.

Fellows will be expected to help the peer review up to six submitted papers in their field per year, and to contribute ideas and content, including blogs.

You will be supported by BMJ Clinical Editors in the UK, US, Europe, and Asia, who will provide you with data to help you identify high-impact research. You will also be invited to attend yearly regional editorial advisory meetings.

If you are an academic in Clinical or Public Health Medicine in the middle of your career, working at a major international academic institution, and are an accomplished networker, the BMJ Fellowship is for you.

The roles are unpaid but come with a free personal subscription to Fellows will be listed on and will receive an annual letter of thanks from the Editor that can be shared with Department Heads and Tenure Committees.

Fellows will be required to declare relevant conflicts of interest. Fellowships are for two years and are renewable at the Editor’s discretion.
