We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Designated Doctor/ Consultant Paediatrician to join our National Safeguarding Children Service.
The Safeguarding Children Service is an independent service delivered by designated professionals, providing the professional and strategic lead across NHS Wales in keeping children and young people safe. This is achieved through the provision of independent expert support to a range of stakeholders including Welsh Government, Local Safeguarding Children Boards, Health Inspectorate Wales and Children’s Commissioner for Wales as well as to Health Boards, Trusts and private health organisations. The Safeguarding Children Service is managed within Public Health Wales. A Designated Doctor is currently the service lead, reporting to the Executive Director of Public Health Services.
You will be expected to deliver two main roles: 1. Designated Doctor working within the National Safeguarding Children Service (6 sessions), managerially accountable to the Service Lead, Safeguarding Children Service.
2. Consultant Paediatrician undertaking clinical sessions within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (4 sessions), managerially accountable to the Clinical Director of Child Health, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
You will be professionally accountable to Public Health Wales and will hold an honorary contract with the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Applicants would normally be expected to be a member of RCPCH/RCP or equivalent bodies.
Consideration will be given to both full-time and part-time applicants.
