Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust
Acute Medicine and Diabetes/Endocrinology
North Devon District Hospital, Barnstaple
NDHT has been developing its Physicians’ Strategy and this post of Consultant
Physician in Acute Medicine and Endocrinology/Diabetes is pivotal in the delivery of
the strategy. The service is currently undergoing significant investment and
development and this is an ideal opportunity to help shape the future of the team.
The post is offered on a whole-time or job-share basis, attracting 10 Programmed
Activities per week. The successful applicant will join an increasing team of consultant
physicians and participate in a one in eleven on-call rota with internal cover that
attracts a supplementary Band A on-call allowance. The postholder will require
accreditation in General (internal) Medicine and Endocrinology.
Applicants must be fully registered with licence to practice with the General Medical
Council and be eligible for inclusion on the GMC’s Specialist Register (or expected
entry with six months from the date of the AAC).
The Trust covers the catchment area of North Devon as well as a small portion of North
Cornwall. The Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust serves a population of
approximately 175,000; this is growing and is greatly increased by tourists in the
summer months. With 50 miles of spectacular coastline from Lynton to Bude and most
of the remaining landmass being rural, the area is undoubtedly the most attractive and unspoiled in Devon.
