This post offers the opportunity to work within the Department of Rheumatology at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. You will be replacing a retired colleague and join two consultant colleagues, a GP with Special Interest and the multidisciplinary Rheumatology team based in the new Bolton One Health Centre.
The department has excellent MDT support which includes Specialist Rheumatology Nurses (1WTE), Advanced Rheumatology Practitioners (2.5WTE), Rheumatology Pharmacist, O.P. sister and nursing support team and a dedicated Rheumatology therapy team including Occupational Therapy, Podiatry/Biomechanics, Physiotherapy and Counselling. It is also a busy training department with FY2, GP ST2 and Rheumatology ST3+/SpR posts rotating through the department currently. Inpatient management takes place at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
You will be expected to have MRCP or equivalent, to have completed Specialist Training in Rheumatology and be on the GMC Specialist Register as a specialist in Rheumatology, although applications will be accepted from those who are within six months of achieving the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
Bolton NHS FT was established in July 2011 following integration of the Royal Bolton Hospital Foundation Trust and the Service Provider arm of NHS Bolton, both of which have had services recognised by national awards previously. The new organisation aims to bring better care together for local people by bringing more opportunities for innovation, improvements and development for the population we serve and the staff.
Bolton is part of the Greater Manchester conurbation with a population of approximately 265,000. Bolton and its surroundings provide attractive areas in which to live and work, with well-known theatres, concert halls, art galleries and museums. The Lake District, Peak District and North Wales are less than two hours drive away. Manchester and Liverpool International Airports are easily accessible.
