Consultants in Stroke Medicine
Two posts
Applications are invited for two further consultant posts to expand our stroke service in Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. We see over 500 patients with stroke each year. Thrombolysis is provided with Accident and Emergency in conjunction with the AGWS out of hours network. There are close links with onsite Neurology and Neuro-rehabilitation teams, and recent investment has been used to develop a hyperacute unit and meet national strategy targets for acute stroke care. We’re a top performing member of the Stroke Research Network and are completing a major Kings Fund project to produce a truly patient centred service.

You’ll have the potential to lead key areas of stroke pathway development: we’d welcome applicants with a background in Geriatric Medicine or Neurology and we’ll be flexible with your job plan.
Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton is a successful, progressive and award-winning 750-bed Foundation Trust, affiliated to the Medical School of Bristol University, and serving a population of 330,000. We recently opened a £6m cardiology unit and a £20m cancer centre: by 2013 we’ll have a new surgical block to join our existing modern medical buildings.
