ST GEORGE’S HEALTHCARE NHS TRUST
RENAL TRANSPLANTATION SURGERY
Applications are invited for two Consultant Surgeons in Kidney Transplant Surgery/Renal Surgery to join the Renal Surgical Team at St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the largest Tertiary Healthcare Units in the UK, and the main Teaching Hospital in the western sector of the South Thames Region.
The new incumbents will be expected to participate in the existing Renal Transplant, which includes Live, Cadaveric, Non-heart-beating and ABOi/HLA incompatible Transplants, and Vascular Access Programmes. The Unit performs nearly 100 Transplants per annum at St George’s and around 700 access cases per annum in both St Helier’s and St George’s; the successful candidates will also contribute to Audit, Clinical and Laboratory Research. The new Consultants would be expected to take an equal share in this work, providing care to patients at both St George’s Hospital and St Helier’s Hospital. The on-call rota is well established to cover the needs for Transplant and Vascular Access.
The posts represent an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Renal Surgical Team and to be key in Transplantation related issues. We are seeking two enthusiastic Consultants with Transplantation and Renal Access Surgery skills who should be experienced in Renal Surgery. Experience in Laparoscopic donation is desirable but not essential. The appointees will join three substantive, full time Renal Consultants already in post, alongside the Nephrology Team as part of the Renal Directorate. These posts are available to be taken up as soon as possible. Applicants should be suitably qualified and have substantial experience appropriate to a Teaching Hospital.
Enquiries about the posts may be directed to: Dr Steve Nelson, Consultant Nephrologist, Clinical Director for Renal, Haematology and Oncology, email: Steve.firstname.lastname@example.org telephone: 020 8725 2705.
