An excellent opportunity has arisen to become part of the Neurology Team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. The post also has sessions as Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the Regional Neuroscience Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The post attracts ten Programmed Activities and no on-call commitment. Applications are welcome from those unable to work full time for personal reasons.
 You will join a team of four Consultant Neurologists (two full time and two part time) supported by experienced and committed Specialist Nurses and Therapists. The Trust comprises the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, and is committed to providing a high quality, accessible and equitable Neurology Service across both hospitals, with strong links and working relationship with the Primary Care Trusts. The Trust serves the 600,000 people living in Shropshire and mid-Powys. The Neurology Department undertakes General Neurology Clinics as well as Specialist Clinics in Multiple Sclerosis, Headache, First Fit and Botulinum Toxin. There are Specialist Nurses/Therapists in MS, Epilepsy, MND, Parkinson’s Disease and Spasticity. The Trust is a Teaching Hospital allied to Keele University Medical School, and we provide Neurology Teaching for fourth year Medical Students. There is great potential for the appointee to develop a special interest.
 The Queen Elizabeth Neuroscience Centre has 18 Consultant Neurologists with diverse Clinical and Research interests. There are four firms, each with a Registrar and Senior House Officer, which also support a Neurogeneticist, Rehabilitationist, Neuropsychiatrist and Neuro-phthalmologist. There are eight Neurosurgeons, four Consultant Neuroradiologists, three Consultant Neurophysiologists and three Neuropathologists.
 Shropshire is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and offers extensive outdoor recreational facilities and easy access to North Wales and the Welsh Coast. Housing standards are high in the county, both in town and country, with good local state and private schools. The M54 motorway starts just outside Shrewsbury, and provides quick access to the national motorway network.
 It is essential that you possess MRCP (or equivalent training and experience), and are on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register, or within six months of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training at time of interview.
